Definition

A cube number (or just cube) is a number which can be expressed as the third power of an integer.

The sequence of positive cubes begins:

$1, 8, 27, 64, 125, 216, 343, 512, 729, 1000, \ldots$

This sequence is A000578 in the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (N. J. A. Sloane (Ed.), 2008).

As Euclid defined it:

And a cube is equal multiplied by equal and again by equal, or a number which is contained by three equal numbers.
