Definition

Let $a$ and $b$ be numbers.

Then equimultiples of $a$ and $b$ are numbers of the form $c a$ and $c b$ where $c$ is also a number.

That is, they are products arising from the multiplications of two numbers by the same common number.

Historical Note

The term is found in historical literature, in particular Book V of Euclid's The Elements in the context of the theory of proportion.
