- Born: January 5, 1923 in Novosibirsk, USSR
- 1940: Entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University
- 1942 to 1945: Served in the Soviet Army: participated in liberation of Prague and capture of Berlin
- 1945: Resumed studies at Moscow State University
- 1948: expelled for ideological reasons
- 1956 to 1960: Taught at the Tula Mechanical Institute
- 1958: Defended Ph. D. thesis summarizing results of undergraduate work
- 1960 to 1994: Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys
- 1964: Defended a second (Doctor of Science) dissertation
- 1965: Became a full professor
