Talk:Cauchy Schwarz Inequality

If this proof is different in structure (or in theorem statement) than the one at Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality/Inner Product Spaces, it should be merged there. Sorry Rob, I really should have caught this as an obvious need for a redirect when we originally made the page for the Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality/Inner Product Spaces. --Cynic (talk) 02:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

This proof is better than the one linked above. Wok 03:19, 20 February 2011 (CST)
I think I disagree, as this proof is less general (being valid only for real numbers), less precise in its terminology (in that it doesn't state the fields it's valid for), doesn't provide any links for definitions, and uses different symbology from the other pages on inner product spaces (although the latter can be fixed, of course). Having said that, it is a useful alternative proof when the field is real, as it introduces the discriminant trick.
Oh yeah, and this one has a lousy page layout. --prime mover 03:44, 20 February 2011 (CST)
