Talk:Trigonometric Identities

How many identities should we put on this page? Obviously there are tons of trig identities that are not used very much (i.e $\dfrac{\sin x+\sin(2x)+\sin(3x)}{\cos x+\cos(2x)+\cos(3x)}=\tan(2x)$). They are typically easy to prove, but also rarely useful. --Cynic 22:20, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Maybe put them all up for now as long as they have a valid proof, and just make sure that they have a heading so they will be included in the ToC

I filled out the stub sections of this page, so I removed it from the wanted proofs list. Of course feel free to keep adding to the minor identities section (or adding other sections if I missed anything major).--cynic 02:07, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Considering the direction this site seems to be going, would it be a good idea to separate these out into their own pages? (a) This one is becoming a little unwieldy, and (b) we will (well, I will) want to add alternative proofs for these which originate from different axiomatic standpoints. Having "alternative proofs" for some of these will make for a somewhat indigestible page. --Matt Westwood 18:39, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan. Just be careful to name them carefully. I also think that if we are doing that, we definitely need a [[Category:Trigonometric Identities]]. --Cynic (talk) 20:53, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Nowiki'ed your above category or this page will appear in it! I'm on the case, but CSI Vegas is about to start and I never miss that. --Matt Westwood 20:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Do we really need that stub notice about circularity on this page? Also, I'm going to try to break this page into smaller pages soon. --Cynic (talk) 04:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

That sounds like a very good idea. Don't know what to do about the circularity problem, as it is definitely a concern. But carving it up into smaller pieces would allow us to take a step back and see exactly what we have there. --Matt Westwood 10:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
