Historical Note on Aliquot Sequence starting from $276$

The fate of the aliquot sequence that starts at $276$ was explored by Derrick Norman Lehmer and others.

However far the calculation is pushed, it still does not approach termination.

David Wells reported in Curious and Interesting Numbers of $1986$ that after $469$ steps, the $45$-digit number had been reached:

$149 \, 384 \, 846 \, 598 \, 254 \, 844 \, 243 \, 905 \, 695 \, 992 \, 651 \, 412 \, 919 \, 855 \, 640$

By the time of Curious and Interesting Numbers, 2nd ed. of $1997$, he was able to report that the calculation had been pushed to $487$ steps.
