Historical Note on Propositiones ad Acuendos Juvenes, often attributed to Alcuin of York
It is not known for certain who actually wrote Propositiones ad Acuendos Juvenes, but Alcuin of York is a distinct possibility.
$\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$ takes the view that it is better to attribute it to somebody than leave its authorship completely anonymous, and Alcuin of York is as good a guess as any.
It first appeared in approximately the $9$th century.
The versions provided here are taken from the translation by John Hadley, with commentary provided by David Singmaster and John Hadley, in its $1992$ publication.
