This can happen if you transclude the definition page before putting its onlyinclude tags round the includable bits. Then the category reference is included in that category for a finite time, and it sticks like that till either the cache times out or is refreshed, and forcing it to do either seems to be an exercise in futility. I've seen this happen a few times. It does eventually sort itself out. It has done now. --prime mover (talk) 00:11, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
