Definition
Metric spaces is the branch of mathematics in which the topology on a topological space is derived from a notion of distance or metric.
The notion of a metric gives rise to the treatment of convergent sequences and limits, as well as continuity of mappings.
It is closely aligned with the branch of analysis.
