Definition talk:Convex Set (Vector Space)/Line Segment

From ProofWiki

This page is created as a subpage of Convex Set. However, the concept of a straight line is strictly speaking independent of the convexity (or not) of the space in which it is embedded.

That is, while the concept of a convex set is directly connected to the concept of a straight line in a vector space, the latter does not have to actually be in a convex set.

Hence recommend it is not subpaged from Convex Set but instead stands independently and is linked as necessary. Otherwise it is easy to get the (perhaps mistaken) idea that a line segment cannot be defined in a vector space that is not convex.

Agreed 100%. — Lord_Farin (talk) 18:50, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
I wish I'd addressed this issue when I first came upon it. haven't a clue what I meant about it now. --prime mover (talk) 21:35, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
