With respect to the "mergeto" suggestion:
It needs to be established exactly what specific restrictions on the ring are needed to make this definition rigorous.
Some sources insist that the ring be an integral domain.
Some insist that it also needs to be a Euclidean domain.
Some merely suggest that the ring be commutative.
Maybe there exists a need to implement subpages for the finer distinctions between ring types. --prime mover (talk) 10:37, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
