Mathematician

Japanese mathematician known for distinguished work in algebraic geometry and the theory of complex manifolds.

Founder of the Japanese school of algebraic geometers.

Fields Medal

Kunihiko Kodaira was awarded a Fields Medal in $\text {1954}$ at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Achieved major results in the theory of harmonic integrals and numerous applications to Kählerian and more specifically to algebraic varieties. He demonstrated, by sheaf cohomology, that such varieties are Hodge manifolds.

Wolf Prize

Kunihiko Kodaira was awarded a Wolf Prize for Mathematics in $\text {1984/85}$:

For his outstanding contributions to the study of complex manifolds and algebraic varieties.
