Her name has several alternative transliterations, including Sophie Kowalevski (or occasionally Kowalevsky or Kowalewski), which she used on her published work.
After moving to Sweden, she called herself Sonya Kovalevskaya. This can also be seen represented as Sonia Kovalevsky.
