By the way - Dales' book defines normed (and hence Banach) algebras to be non-trivial. Do any of your sources say similar? Caliburn (talk) 20:59, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

I don't know such sources. By the way, for unital Banach algebras, some sources require $\norm {\mathbf 1} = 1$ and some do not. I would like to require this, which also exclude trivial algebras. --Usagiop (talk) 21:06, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
It's suboptimal to construct proofs without having defined the entities that support them. I can see no worth to this page if we don't even know what a unital Banach algebra is. --prime mover (talk) 22:50, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
Yes, the definition of unital Banach algebra is given as $(2)$ and $(3)$ but we definitely need a definition page for this. --Usagiop (talk) 23:06, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
I've already defined what a unital Banach algebra is based on Allen and Dales' book. Caliburn (talk) 13:47, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
If you want to introduce normed algebras, then feel free to adapt this theorem. --Usagiop (talk) 09:18, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
