Presumably $K$ is known as an "enlargement" of $H$? Can't find a reference. --prime mover 00:25, 17 May 2011 (CDT)

Not as far as I know -- I need an explicit construction of $\langle H, a\rangle$ for counting the characters on an abelian group, and didn't know what to call it.

Perhaps "union of cosets" or "structure of group generated by subgroup and element" would be better. --Linus44 04:53, 17 May 2011 (CDT)

It's tantamount to a join, almost? Except that $a$ is not itself a subgroup so it's not. Nope. No matter. I'll come back to this, perhaps. --prime mover 12:14, 17 May 2011 (CDT)
