Can this be given (a) an explanation as to what it is for, (b) usage instructions, and (c) a meaningful name? "Tl" as a name is of limited use. --prime mover (talk) 14:40, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- (a) It is used to link templates.
- (b) I will add them later, but basically you put
{{TL|Proofread|arg1}}
and it outputs{{Proofread|arg1}}
. Or you can remove the argument, just putting{{TL|Proofread}}
and it outputs{{Proofread}}
. - (c) Tl stands for Template Link, and this template is find-able in WP. --Kc kennylau (talk) 14:44, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- So what's its purpose? --prime mover (talk) 18:59, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, and this site has nothing to do with wikipedia. Besides, your link does not work. --prime mover (talk) 19:01, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- I did not mean to copy every thing from wp to here, the link is just a reference, and I just fixed the link. --kc_kennylau (talk) 23:17, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- But I repeat the question: what is its use? From what I can tell, all that's being provided is a link to a particular template. And as such, will not Template:Proofread work just as well? What is it used for? --prime mover (talk) 08:24, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- It is used for making linking to templates easier. Clearly
{{TL|Proofread}}
is more convenient than{{[[Template:Proofread|Proofread]]}}

- Yes I understand how you use it. The question I'm actually asking is: what are the circumstances where you would want to write anything more complicated than Template:Proofread? --prime mover (talk) 21:16, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Renamed
I have renamed this from "tl" to "TL" as it is now clearer what the letters are. Lowercase L is a pain to read. --prime mover (talk) 07:23, 5 May 2018 (EDT)
