House style

You will note the recent edits to Existence and Uniqueness of Direct Limit of Sequence of Groups/Lemma 1, and will notice there are some significant differences between your accustomed style and the $\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$ house standard.

Broadly:

a) We prefer to split up a train of thought onto several lines, rather than bunch everything up into one. Also note the short simple sentence style, and the technique for presenting multiline equations and arguments.

b) We also use the dollar-delimiter style exclusively, and we deliberately place the material at the left hand side of the page. This makes reading the proof easier, drawing the eye into a mainly downward direction rather than have to make the reader do the work of scanning sideways as well. With long lines, reading is more arduous than necessary.

c) Also note that every occurrence of every concept and every result, on every page, is referenced by means of a wikilink to where that result or concept is proved or defined. This is a fundamental part of the philosophy of $\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$. The aim is for any reader to be able to encounter any page on the wiki and to be able to understand that page completely, without any prior knowledge, purely by tracing back through the defined concepts and proved results, without needing to consult external references for those "what does that mean?" moments.

I have amended Existence and Uniqueness of Direct Limit of Sequence of Groups/Lemma 1 according to the house style, but I have not added the wikilinks. If you are confident enough in your understanding of our philosophy, you are invited to do so yourself. --prime mover (talk) 02:39, 5 May 2020 (EDT)
