Definition
A form is a homogeneous polynomial in $2$ or more variables.
Order
The order of a form is the number of sets of variables it has.
Also known as
When Arthur Cayley and James Joseph Sylvester initiated the study of form, they called them quantics.

The study of forms was developed by Arthur Cayley and James Joseph Sylvester in the mid-$19$th century.
They originally called them quantics.
In particular, they studied invariants of forms.
