Definition

• The SI units of mass density are $\mathrm {kg} \, \mathrm m^{-3}$ (kilograms per cubic metre).

• The CGS units of mass density are $\mathrm g \, \mathrm{cm}^{-3}$ or, less formally: $\mathrm g / \mathrm {cc}$ (grams per cubic centimetre).
