Welcome to ProofWiki! Since you're new, you may want to check out the general help page. It's the best first stop to see how things are done (next to reading proofs, of course!). Please feel free to contribute to whichever area of mathematics interests you, either by adding new proofs, or fixing up existing ones. If you have any questions please feel free to contact one of the administrators, or post your question on the questions page.

Here are some useful pages to help get you started:

  • Community Portal - To see what needs to be done, and keep up to date with the community.
  • Recent Changes - To keep up with what's new, and what's being added.
  • Check out our house style if you are keen on contributing.
  • Main Page talk - This is where most of the main discussions regarding the direction of the site take place. If you have any ideas, please share them!

Regarding Jensen's Formula

Your attempt at improving the page Jensen's Formula is much appreciated. However, our usual practice is not to just come in and fundamentally alter a proof, cf. this FAQ entry. Of course, in this particular case we have a warning that the proof may not be correct as it stands.

Since you're new, I'll give you some pointers on how to approach this type of situation initially (until you've garnered enough experience to produce the multiple-page construction that has become house style):

  • Place a copy of the page in your personal user space to tinker with (for Jensen's Formula, I've created User:Magnolia/Jensen's Formula) and make any changes you think are necessary;
  • Make a note on the associated talk page that you have another proof / believe the theorem statement is incorrect / believe the proof is incorrect, with explanation, and, if applicable, link to the associated page in your user realm.

Furthermore, it is greatly appreciated if you take the time to read up on Help:Editing and its subpages, which explain the set of conventions we call house style (admittedly, it does an incomplete job at this, feel free to contact me or prime.mover if you have any questions, or use the Help:Questions page). — Lord_Farin (talk) 17:33, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

I have reinstated that revised proof as a second proof. I/we will still need to rationalise the exact form of the statement. --prime mover (talk) 21:03, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
