Definition

An explicit function is a (usually) real function which is defined in the form:

$y = \map f {x_1, x_2, \ldots, x_n}$

where $y$ is the independent variable.


Examples

Arbitrary Example

The real function defined as:

$y = {x_1}^2 + 2 x_2 + x_2 {x_3}^2$

is an explicit function of $y$.
