Welcome to ProofWiki! Since you're new, you may want to check out the general help page. It's the best first stop to see how things are done (next to reading proofs, of course!). Please feel free to contribute to whichever area of mathematics interests you, either by adding new proofs, or fixing up existing ones. If you have any questions please feel free to contact one of the administrators, or post your question on the questions page.

Here are some useful pages to help get you started:

  • Community Portal - To see what needs to be done, and keep up to date with the community.
  • Recent Changes - To keep up with what's new, and what's being added.
  • Check out our house style if you are keen on contributing.
  • Main Page talk - This is where most of the main discussions regarding the direction of the site take place. If you have any ideas, please share them!

Creating new proofs

It would benefit us greatly if, when you extract stuff from one page and put it in another page, you include all the surrounding material as well.

There are plenty of examples of how this is done, using the elementary techniques of mediawiki page design. --prime mover (talk) 17:58, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

Thanks prime! I will see from now on!. --Anjo (talk) 00:55, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Links with underscores

One more thing: please do not use versions of links with underscores. Best reason is that it makes maintenance more difficult. --prime mover (talk) 14:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Fixing $\LaTeX$

Big kudos for taking on some of this. Good job.

Feel free to add more spaces to the source code to encourage readability. While I appreciate it works just as well without the spaces than with, this is from PoV of contributors. Ease of reading is courtesy.

When a $\LaTeX$ object is found spread over one line and therefore not working, it is one solution (usually quickest and easiest) to put it all on one line, if it is obvious and clear. Complex begin/end cases which need to be on more than one line, just take the heading colon off and indent instead using a \quad (it's quick and easy and is usually my preferred choice.

If for whatever reason it is impractical to do that, then we have the option of wrapping any string up in a "nowiki" pair, which is probably what we ultimately want to add to the metaware so as to render a maht delimited equation with nowiki internally.

My message to a, as they come on board to help us out with this: if anyone knows what needs to be done here, please get in touch and / or jump on board. --prime mover (talk) 21:20, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

And I've just added a new edit tool below: highlight the text you want in nowiki tags and click on the nowiki tag. --prime mover (talk) 21:22, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
